Greetings! We are asking for your help!

NAMI Pennsylvania (The National Alliance on Mental Illness) is hosting its annual Dinner Dance and Silent Auction during our upcoming annual conference. We are hoping that you will consider donating an item or service to be auctioned. The auction will take place during our dinner dance on Saturday, October 28, 2006, at the Radisson Penn Harris Hotel, Harrisburg PA. We expect about 500 people to attend this event, including individuals with mental illness; their family members and other loved ones, treatment and care providers, and other interested individuals.

Because we are a state-wide organization, it is helpful to have items that are easily portable or obtainable at multiple locations in the Commonwealth. Gift certificates to chain stores are one such example. Our conference attendees are a diverse group and will be interested in a broad range of items.

Each donated item or service should include all necessary information for obtaining or using the item, such as expiration dates for gift certificates.

NAMI Pennsylvania is a state affiliate of the largest national organization focusing on support, education, and advocacy for and with individuals impacted by serious mental illness. Our affiliates, located in most counties in Pennsylvania, provide services on a daily basis to individuals facing a broad range of challenges as a result of mental illness. Educational programs, support groups, and advocacy activities are all aimed at improving the quality of life for the one in five Pennsylvanians impacted by mental illness. The proceeds of the auction will be used to strengthen our state office’s ability to provide needed support and resources to our local affiliates.

We thank you in advance for your donation to our auction. Your donation should be received by NAMI Pennsylvania no later than Friday, October 20, 2006. All items should be sent directly to NAMI Pennsylvania, 2149 North 2 Street, Harrisburg, PA 17110. Please complete the auction form and return it with your donation, so that we may acknowledge your tax deductible contribution.

Questions regarding this request may be directed to Tammy Beaston at tbeaston@nami.org or call 1-800-223-0500.

You are also invited to attend our conference.

Thank you again for your generous support of this auction, and for your support of our mission of improving the quality of life for individuals with mental illness.

Sincerely,
James W. Jordan, Jr.
Executive Director
