Phyllis Solomon, PhD, Professor of Social Work and Professor of Social Work in Psychiatry, University of Pennsylvania.

TOPIC: "What is Evidence-Based Practice for Adults with Severe Mental Illness and What is the Scientific Evidence?"

Dr. Solomon has over 30 years of research, planning, and administrative experience. She has worked in the state psychiatric system and in a community research and planning agency where she conducted research, evaluations, and designed service interventions. She has extensively published and presented on issues concerning adults with serious mental illness and their families. She has co-edited two books on psychiatric rehabilitation, Psychiatric Rehabilitation in Practice, New Developments in Psychiatric Rehabilitation, and co-authored two books Community Services to Discharged Psychiatric Patients and Principles and Practice of Psychiatric Rehabilitation. In 1997 her article with others on results of family education for families of adults with severe mental illness received the first place award by the Society for Social Work and Research. She is listed in numerous directories, including Who's Who is America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, 500 Notable Women, Outstanding Scholars of the 20th Century to name a few.
