Dr. Brooks talk is entitled, "Working with Angry, Resistant Youth: Strategies to Foster Motivation, Self-Discipline, and Resilience."

"Working with angry and resistant children and adolescents can be very challenging for mental health professionals and educators," says Ron Bernstein, president and CEO, Foundations Behavioral Health. Dr. Brooks will provide approaches that can be used in therapy, schools, residential programs and homes to lessen resistance and anger while fostering cooperation and self-esteem.

During the conference, Dr. Brooks will describe specific strategies based on a strength-based approach that educators, mental health clinicians, and other childcare professionals can use to foster self-discipline, self-esteem, motivation, cooperation, hope, and resilience in these challenging youth. During his practical, informative, and humorous presentation, Dr. Brooks will outline approaches to lessen angry outbursts in youth while reinforcing their self-esteem, confidence, hope, and resilience. Drawing upon his experiences as a parent, psychologist, and educator, Dr. Brooks will describe effective strategies for identifying and eliminating negative patterns of behavior. He will offer many real-life anecdotes to illustrate the application of his approach with at-risk, angry children and adolescents.

One of today's leading speakers, Dr. Brooks has presented a message of encouragement, hope and resilience to thousands of parents, educators, and mental health professionals. Dr. Brooks is the author of The Self-Esteem Teacher and co-author of Raising Resilient Children; Nurturing Resilience in Our Children: Answers to the Most Important Parenting Questions; Seven Steps to Help Your Child Worry Less; Angry Children, Worried Parents: Seven Steps to Help Families Manage Anger; The Power of Resilience: Achieving Balance, Confidence, and Personal Strength in Your Life; and A Pediatric Approach to Learning Disorders.
