Event: Visions for Tomorrow

Date: January 2008
Place: Near City Line and Conshohocken State Aves

Note: Visions is a new course we will offer in early 2008. It is for parents and caregivers of children or adolescents who have a mental illness. Classes offer you a safe, supportive place to learn about types of mental illnesses as well as instruction on coping skills, dealing the schools, and how to be an advocate. Event: Winter Party

Date: 24 February 4 p.m.
Place: Merion Tribute House, Merion

Note: Mark your calendars now! If you haven’t been there before, the Merion Tribute House is a wonderful setting, complete with working fireplace. Come and meet other family members and people with mental illness and enjoy a good meal. We ask those who are able to bring a potluck dish: appetizer, casserole, vegetables, dessert, etc. Everyone is welcome. Call 267.251.6240 to register.

Event: Speaker meeting, “Early Identification of Adolescents Who Are at Risk for Psychiatric Illness” with Monica Calkins, Ph.D.

Event: Family-to-Family (F2F) Education Program

Date: Spring, 2008
Place: Near Lancaster and City Line Aves., Wynnewood

Note: F2F is a 12-week course for families and caregivers of individuals with mental illness. Trained family members teach the course. All instruction and course materials are free to class participants. We will begin another class early in 2008. Event: The Compassionate Friends Worldwide Candle Lighting to honor children who have died

Date: 9 December, 7 p.m.
Place: Clifton Height, Pottstown, Quakertown, West Grove in the Philadelphia suburbs. . .or at home

Note: Held annually the 2nd Sunday in December, the one hour Candle Lighting, held world-wide, is a time to remember and honor children who have died at any age for any cause. For additional sites go to www.compassionatefriends.org.

Event: WordFest IV: Words on Work

Event: Using the Holidays as Opportunities for Change and Growth
