Dear Senator Jubelirer:
On behalf of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill of Pennsylvania
(NAMI PA), I would like to urge your support for House Bill 2036.
Printer’s Number 4723. which deals with mental health care declarations
and mental health powers of attorneys.
This legislation provides a legal framework wherein a capable person
can express their wishes and instruction with regard to mental health
treatment either through written declarations or through a mental
care health agent. Those instructions must conform to accepted clinical
and medical practices. Additionally, House Bill 2036 will greatly
aid families of persons with mental illness should that individual
become incapable of making an appropriate decision.
We urge your support for House Bill 2036.
