| NAMI Pennsylvania
is initiating a statewide ACTION
ALERT campaign to urge our legislators
to restore cuts to the state Medicaid Budget. We are working
in conjunction with a coalition of associated organization
in this effort. It is critical that NAMI- affiliate leaders,
members and friends contact our state representatives
and senators by phone, email and written letters to urge
restoration of cuts as proposed in the 2005 Budget.
To accomplish this crucial effort we have a three part
plan:
1. Call your legislators: Locate your
legislator's contact information by zip code on the left.
Then use the Talking
Points to draw upon when speaking with your
legislators by phone.
2. Write and mail or fax your legislators:
Two letters are listed above. The first is a sample
letter
from the affiliate leaders to the legislators.
The second is a sample letter
by family members, consumers and friends
which should be modified with personal stories.
3. Email your legislators: The talking
points, letters and background are in printable, emailable
format. Please click on the appropriate document, tailor
it to your affiliate, and then email your legislator with
the letter attached.
Important: Please Fax or Mail a copy of your letter,
and any email or letter from your legislator to you back
to the NAMI PA State Office. Also, notify our office of
any phone or personal contacts you have. This information
will enable our office to specifically advocate with your
legislators.
If you or your membership need any assistance with this,
please don’t hesitate to contact Chuck Hamilton
at the state office chamilton@nami.org or call 800-223-0500.
We truly need everyone’s best efforts on this campaign
to restore proposed Medicaid and Medical Assistance cuts,
and we fully offer any support you need from the state
office.
Thank you for all that you do for the NAMI cause.
